31 Classes. 31 Days. One Powerful Reset.
March at PLAY just hits different. You can feel the energy percolating in the studio as we take on our first major challenge of a new year- March Madness. 31 classes in 31 days. An annual invitation to prove that yes, we can.
Most of our March Madness offerings lean into the hot side of things. Tapping into that agni fire, asking it to burn away any heaviness carried over from the winter months. The slumps, the seasonal blues, the stress that holidays can bring- we burn it all down in that internal furnace and forge it into gold with the strength of each pose.
This is the power of the hot room. Some bodies thrive more than others in this environment. If you’re looking for intermittent alternatives to the heat, or a more restorative practice, we have those, too, with our Aerial offerings, and our infrared vinyasas at PLAY Vista.
Here are 5 Tips to help you Master March Madness:
1. Hydrate Like It’s Your Job (Because It Is)
Hot yoga can easily pull a liter or more of fluid from your system, along with essential minerals you need to function. If you’re only drinking water during class, you’re already behind.
*Start hydrating the night before
*Add electrolytes daily–not just after you feel depleted.
*Aim for steady intake throughout the day
*Remember our fridge is stocked with electrolyte rich LMNTs
2. Fuel Is Your Friend
Taking 31 classes is not the time for fasting. Your body needs carbohydrates for energy, protein for muscle repair, and healthy fats for sustained recovery.
*Before class- light and digestible (banana, yogurt, smoothie vibes)
*After class- Protein within an hour (20-30g is a good target)
3. Rotate Your Heat Exposure
Again, this may not speak to everybody. If you’re a regular at PLAY, chances are you like it HOT. And we love to deliver. That being said, every body is different and you don’t have to take the hottest class every single day if you don’t want to. We offer great alternatives.
*Aerial Yoga (Low Heat, High Support- build strength while decompressing your spine)
*Infrared Warm Classes (Gentler Heat, Deeper Circulation- infrared warmth supports tissue recovery and skin health) Visit our Vista location to take these classes Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 5:30pm (1116 Sycamore Ave. Vista CA 92081)
4. Respect Your Nervous System
When you’re practicing daily it’s important to avoid burnout. This mosty revolves around a sense of “pushing” vs “choosing.”
*Scale Intensity- You don’t need to go HAM in every pose. If child’s pose or early savasana is calling, TAKE IT. 31 classes is a great place to check your ego by listening to your body.
*Go to bed early. Your body recovers while you are sleeping.
5. Consistency is King
Yes, you’ll get stronger, but the habit of commiting to yourself every day is the real take away here. 31 days of Showing Up rewires your identity. You stop being someone who says they will do something and become the person that does.
*Keep a daily journaling to track the progress of your mindset, you might be surprised at what comes up and how you evolve over these 31 days.
March Madness isn’t about grinding yourself into the mat. It’s about building resilience, rhythm, and divine trust in yourself and your ability to show up.
Remember that you’re not just completing a challenging, you are literally evolving.
Let’s grow. Let’s go.
With Peace and Love,
Your PLAY Fam
